Among the earliest of the juveniles about the Americas, it contains brief highlights of early travel and discovery aimed at the juvenile audience, including material concerning Columbus, Cortes, Balboa, American Indians, Lewis and Clark, Hudson Bay, the West Indies, etc., with numerous charming woodcut illustrations. Both America n continents are covered equally. Reproduced in 1968 with a new preface by Christina Duff Stewart in the series Early Children's Books sponsored by the Toronto Public Library.
