Hardcover. 16mo. 15.5cm, first edition, iv,121p., full page engraved frontis half title & engraving portrait (author), in the original quarter calf backed marbled boards, spine chap mostly wanting, front cover detached, shaken, engraved plates slightly dust worn but are good clear impressions, internally very good (sc). ~ James I of Scotland wrote The King's Quair" in 1423 and 1424 while he was a prisoner in England. The portrait plate titled "Jacobus I. Rex Scotorum" was engraved from an original in the collection of the Earl of Buchan. Item #31474
