(N12) A long poem vehemently critical ofCanadian politics and politicians in the 1870's. "Hail Canada! Muchgovern'd, nigh undone,/ By heavy debts and railways, just begun,/ To tiethy scattered provinces together/ Like an interminable iron tether,/Ofthee I sing: nay rather let me mourn,/The ruined prospects, and thyplight forlorn."
