[1846], Hardcover. sm4to. 24.5cm, new edition, in three volumes, xii,436,[2]; viii,468 & viii,512, ads., engravedtitle-pages and 556 wood and steel engraved plates and illustrations,(including 49 steel engraved plates and 17 engraved maps), in theoriginal pebble grain green cloth, extra pictorial gilt and blinddecorations, some occasional light foxing but a fine set, scarce in thiscondition. (ids) The authors, who were Irish, travelled extensively inIreland. The book could stand alone as a great pictorial record of itsera but it is, as well, well known for its topographical description andsocial history. "A composite account of Ireland for which the informationwas gathered on five tours undertaken between 1825 and 1841." - (McVeagh, p71).
