Soft cover. 24mo. 13cm, vii,198p., errata leaf, engraved vignette half title, 2 plates from engravings, large folding map, rebound in tan linen with the remnants of the original printed wraps laid down, original owner's dated signature replaced on the front free fly, (dated Juin 17, 1858), internal engraved institutional bookplate front paste down and ink stamp on one page and on one panel of the folding map, good to very good, rare. The large detailed folding lithographic map is of Quebec City in 1842 by W. Cowan and Son, Glasgow. A chapter is included on the Saguenay. Charles Roger, was born in Scotland and came to Canada in 1842, and became a journalist. He later accepted a position in the civil service in Ottawa. He was the author of - 1): The Rise of Canada, .
