Hardcover. sm4to. 26cm, 35p., limited numbered edition of 500 copies, this being #183, signed by Alison Haig-Brown at the end of the preface, on Gutenberg laid paper, with tipped-in title-page colour vignette illustrations signed by the artist, and with colour chapter headings showing the five different birds encouter, the Dipper, Kingfisher, Heron, Mergansers and Osprey, and with 6 full page pencil illustrations, in full grey book linen, gilt spine titles, and blind stamped Osprey illustration on the upper cover, bound by Courtland Benson, design composition and presswork by Jim Rimmer of Pi Tree Press, the first issue, in fine condition. With Colophon Books printed prospectus which includes a Rimmer pencil drawing, loosely insertd. "For the pleasures of book collectors & friends of Roderick Haig-Brown, we have published a book entitled "Alison's Fishing Birds, a child's encounter with five birds of the west coast." Colphon reservation card (4p) for this copy laid in. Originally written in 1939-40, the story is likely a composite of the author two daughter's, Valerie and Mary. Item #39542
