Hardcover. 4to. 28cm, one of a "Edition de Luxe" limited to 100 Signed copies, out of series, xxiv,286p., rubricated title page, photogravure frontis portrait of the author, and 43 plate illustrations, (including several photogravure plates), text illustrations, in full dark-green crushed morocco, raised bands, gilt (angling) decorations and borders in the panels, gilt titles, gilt title & borders on the cover, decorated borders in the inner dentelles, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt rest uncut, some slight abrasion on the boards else in fine condition, rare. Signed by author. A very scarce large paper edition of Frederic M. Halford's autobiography. Known as "Detached Badger" of the "Field" , Halford wrote extensively on fishing-particularly dry-fly fishing-from 1886. In this he describes fishing on the Thames, Itchen, and Kennet Rivers. As well as a fishing trip to Weimar, Germany. Halford was one of the founders of the prestigious "British Flyfishers' Club" and the book features photographs of some of his colleagues- Francis Francis, Foster Mortimer, G.S. Marryat, J.A. Day and J.H. Leech. A very attractive book in fine leather bindings. Item #39562
