Hardcover. sm4to, 25cm, new edition, in three volumes, vi,436; viii,468 & viii,512pp., with three engraved title pages and 609 wood and steel engraved plates and illustrations, (including 97 steel engraved plates and 19 engraved maps, bound in the original publishers pebbled green cloth, gilt and blind stamped decorations, borders and panels, all edges gilt, some slight edge wear, in fine sound clean condition. The authors, who were Irish, travelled extensively in Ireland. The book could stand alone as a great pictorial record of its era but it is, as well, well known for its topographical description and social history. "A composite account of Ireland for which the information was gathered on five tours undertaken between 1825 and 1841." - (McVeagh, p71).
