The author had been an officer stationed in Guiana, and he here attempts to show in what manner Guiana is superior to New Netherlands in terms of climate, possibilities and colonization. He acknowledges that one can with greater ease obtain large tracts of land in New Netherlands but attempts, still, to demonstrate the superiority of the southern colony to that of the northern one. The first edition of this extremely scarce book was published in Dutch in the Hague in 1659, just five years before the Dutch lost New Netherlands to the English.
