Browne ["Phiz"], including frontispiece and extra engraved title, some toning on the plates toward the margins, (as usual), 1 plate at p346 has a small hole, (c. 1cm), outside the illustrations, in a fine signed binding by Riviere, in half crushed niger crimson morocco, raised bands, gilt title and gilt decorations in the panels, match crimson marbled boards and endpapers, all edges gilt, a fine copy all consider with the 14-line errata sheet called for in the second issue..(cgc). An interesting work by Dickens that might be considered to be a transitional one, as it falls between Dickens' earlier, more amusing works and his later socially-conscious, somewhat sombre works.
