Manuscript. LETTER COPY BOOK. Hand-written copies of extensive correspondence primarily to lumber magnate, J.R. Booth in Ottawa from one J.R. Hennessy, foreman of Booth's extensive holdings in the Upper Ottawa Valley. Addressed from Fort Coulonge Depot, Quebec and dated from March 1895 to April 1901. The letters are very detailed with information on type, size and price of timber cuts and details of the running of the operation (including details of trespassers on the Booth land). J. R. Booth was the sole manager of his businesses and this is evidence that he required the detailed reports from his holdings. Other letters relating to lumbering and the Depot are included from Hennessey to John Bryson (Fort Colounge), David Bromley (Westmeath), David Gillies, M.P. (Pontiac), John Comrie (Beachburg) and other locals involved in the lumber trade.
