One auction record, 1909. No on line records. ~ Spurious Sequel to "Don Quixote" ~ "A translation of the spurious "Segvndo tomo del Ingenioso hidalgo don Qvixote de la Mancha" by the pseudonymous writer Fernandez de Avellaneda. Also issued as part of The Novelist's Magazine, Vol. 16, London, 1780-88. " This sequel to Cervantes' Don Quixote was published in 1614 by Avellaneda, whose true identity has not yet been discovered by scholars. Cervantes' displeasure at having this work supersede his own second part of the story makes for an intriguing postscript to one of the most famous works in Spanish literature. The engravings were made after designs by Thomas Stothard (1755-1834), a painter and engraver who was a frequent contributor to Harrison's The Novelist's Magazine. An extremely scarce work, of which only one copy has come to auction in 1909.
