Story p. 773."Passing some of the camp sites of George Dawson, the author and his party made a harrowing journey from Dunvegan to the Pine, along the Pine and Misinchinka Rivers to Fort McLeod. From Fort McLeod they travelled to Quesnel via Fort St. James and the Stuart River" Lowther. Great lows: "one could plunge one's hand out of bed to the wrist even to the elbow, if one had a mind to, in slush water or sodden moss and mud," great moments trancing grizzlies; great beauties; aurora borealis and the Peace River. The journey, particularly from Fort Dunvegan to Fort McLeod, was harrowing, it was exceptionally rainy, game was scarce, and the sportsmen had to resort to eating one of their pack horses.
