The fort of Chitral, on the northern Pakistan/Afghanistan border, was the scene of invasions and attacks from an assortment of interested parties throughout history. The British began occupying Chitral in 1893; this account describes in detail the siege of 1895, when attempts to drive them out almost succeeded. An interesting episode in British military history, and Britain’s relationship with India.
